The operation was carried out on February 6, 2026 by PNP AVSEGROUP, together with airport authorities, following intelligence information from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) regarding suspicious inbound shipments at the facility, the report read.
The interdiction took place from 10:30 a.m. to 4:20 p.m. and was led by the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG). Initial screening revealed that the parcels were part of a batch of abandoned inbound mail.
During X-ray examination conducted by the Bureau of Customs (BOC), irregular images were detected, prompting immediate coordination with the inter-agency task group, it further said
A K-9 narcotics detection team from PDEA subsequently conducted paneling operations, which yielded positive alerts. Manual inspection confirmed the presence of approximately 7,840 grams of suspected Marijuana Kush concealed inside various items, including candies, clothing, comforters, cereals, snack packs, and tin containers.
The seized items were subjected to a comprehensive inventory, marking, and documentation process, conducted in the presence of a media representative and a barangay official, in compliance with standard operating procedures. The process was completed at around 4:20 p.m.
The illegal drugs were formally turned over to PDEA for proper disposition, laboratory examination, and case build-up. The confiscated items are set to be transported to the PDEA National Office in Quezon City.
PNP AVSEGROUP Director PBGen Dionisio B. Bartolome Jr. said the successful interception highlights the importance of strong inter-agency cooperation.
“This interception underscores our vigilance and effective inter-agency collaboration in preventing illegal drugs from entering the country through mail and cargo facilities. We remain committed to pursuing ongoing investigations to identify those responsible and to determine possible links to transnational drug trafficking networks,” he said.
Authorities continue to probe the origin and intended recipients of the abandoned parcels as part of intensified efforts to curb the illegal drug trade.
