MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday lauded his son, House Majority Leader Sandro Marcos, over his decision to inhibit from impeachment trial proceedings, calling his son’s move as “very proper.”

Sandro Marcos to recuse from impeachment proceedings vs dad

The younger Marcos earlier recused himself from impeachment proceedings after 2 impeachment complaints were filed against his father earlier this month.

“Tama yung ginagawa niya. That’s very proper dahil I’m his father, siyempre mayroon siyang bias for me,” Marcos Jr. said.

“Tama yan na he should remove himself from the process so that the process can be seen to be fair and proper... Ang katotohanan, nabalitaan ko sa news din. Hindi niya sinasabi sa akin,” he added.

Malacañang yet to assess if Marcos should attend House impeachment hearing

Marcos Jr. is facing ouster complaints over his alleged role in the passage of the 2025 national budget that was supposedly riddled with anomalous insertions to fund billions-worth of missing or substandard flood control projects.

The two ouster complaints will first be consolidated before the House Justice Committee evaluates its sufficiency in form and substance, Luistro said.
