MANILA — A grassfire swept through a portion of Alicia Panoramic Park, also known as Alicia Hills, a popular tourist destination in Bohol, on Wednesday.

In a video shared by Daniel Plazo with ABS-CBN News, flames can be seen rapidly spreading across the hills at around 3:30 a.m.

By sunrise, sections of the once lush, green hills have been charred.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection in Alicia, the fire was officially reported at around 9:00 a.m. However, residents said the blaze may have started as early as 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

The fire remains ongoing as of this writing, with responders deploying a fire truck and a water tanker to contain the blaze.

Authorities are still assessing the extent of the damage.

In response to the incident, the local government has temporarily suspended hiking activities in the area to ensure public safety.
