Barangay councilor shot dead inside home in Oriental Mindoro

A barangay councilor was shot dead Thursday inside his home in Gloria, Oriental Mindoro.

The victim, Emiljun Historillo, was inside his home when a lone gunman forced entry and shot him multiple times, said Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito "Bonz" Dolor.

Apart from being a councilor in the barangay of Tambong in Gloria, Historillo was also a leader of the local political party Galing at Serbisyo para sa Mindoreño (GSM), which was founded by Dolor.

The son of another barangay councilor was wounded during the shooting incident, Dolor added.

Dolor has offered a P100,000 reward in exchange for information that could lead to the suspect's arrest.

Oriental Mindoro police director Col. Edison Revita said follow-up operations are ongoing and authorities are currently pursuing leads in the case.
